We stayed at The Nook for 4 nights during our Christmas vacation. It was very conveniently located close to Purgatory and Durango Hot Springs. It had everything we needed and was clean. my husband used the gym while there and we dined at one of the restaurants. We would recommend to other travelers to the area.

Do I need four-wheel drive?
In winter we strongly recommend all-wheel drive with chains in the trunk, or four-wheel drive. Roads are plowed regularly and driveways are cleared after three to four inches of snow. A few homes require four-wheel drive, and we let you know in advance if yours is one of them.

Is there somewhere to dry ski gear?
Many of these homes include a garage or mudroom, and most have laundry on site. Filter for rentals with a washer and dryer or a garage.

Is a slope view worth it outside of ski season?
Yes. Purgatory runs the alpine slide and lift-served mountain biking in summer, and the hiking off US-550 is excellent once the snow clears.
