What Guests Say About Cozy Durango Stays
Cassandra Reynolds
Heavenly Daze
Absolutely perfect mountain getaway! The cabin was peaceful, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The beautiful mountain surroundings made it feel like a true escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind and would absolutely stay here again!

Double J Cabin
The cabin was perfect for my husband and I for a week in the mountains. It’s a quiet little cabin with not a lot of city traffic. Little details that I personally look for when renting and searching for a house: The kitchen was supplied with small appliances like a toaster, drip coffee maker, and there was a crockpot.

Dalton Family Retreat
My family has rented this property a number of times and each time we open the door it feels like home. Beautifully furnished, this single story home is friendly for my 1 year old and 4 bedrooms makes it a spacious place. Lots of family friendly games, including pool, air hockey, ping pong, and board games. Location is perfectly situated between Purgatory and Durango. The neighborhood is upscale and perfect for walking in the summer months.
What "Fireplace" Means Across These Rentals
-
Fifty-Five Homes, Not Just Luxury Cabins About twenty houses, eleven cabins, eleven condos, four townhomes and several homes without a building-type label — the fireplace filter is wider than a cabin page or a luxury collection. -
Town to the Ski Hill Sixteen in Durango proper, eleven in the Animas Valley, eleven in North Durango, ten at Purgatory Resort, plus Bayfield, Lemon Lake and Dolores. Sort by location first. -
Sleep Two to Twenty Cottage on the Creek and Tall Pines Casita sleep two. Engineer House 487 sleeps twenty. Read the sleeps number on the listing alongside bedroom count. -
One Bedroom to Six Five one-bedrooms up through two six-bedroom houses. Bedroom count is not the filter — the fireplace amenity is. -
Thirty Take Dogs Pets are $25 per night each, capped at $200 per dog, up to two on most pet-friendly homes. Confirm on the listing. -
Twenty-Eight Also Have a Hot Tub Fireplace inside, tub outside on about half this set. Full hot tub inventory: Durango rentals with hot tubs. -
Gas, Wood and Unspecified Some listings note gas, wood-burning or propane in the amenity description; most do not. Open the Amenities tab and house rules before you assume free wood or a wood stove. -
Useful Year-Round Winter after a ski day is the obvious use. Shoulder-season evenings and cool mountain nights make a fireplace useful outside peak ski weeks too.
Where the Fireplace Rentals Sit
A fireplace shows up across the corridor — not only in cabins and not only at the resort.
In and near town: Animas Montage, Junction House, Deer Trail, Shadow’s Retreat, River House, Soaring Pines Retreat and Tall Pines Casita.
Animas Valley and Hermosa: Animas Valley View, Camp Middle Bear, Dalton Family Retreat, Bends Whitewater Ranch, Hermosa Mountain Hideaway, Cottage on the Creek and Red Cliffs Retreat.
North Durango corridor (Cascade, Silverpick, Electra Lake side): Heavenly Daze, Double J Cabin, Aspen Grove, Aspen Run, Cascade Hideaway, Happy Pick and Rocky Mountain Hideaway — also browse mountain getaways.
At Purgatory: Mountain Gem, Last Run, Alpenglow at Purgatory, Sitzmark #1, Modern Mountain Escape and the rest of the Purgatory vacation homes set — every Purgatory unit we manage carries a fireplace.

Fireplace First — Then Location
Searching “fireplace” usually means you already know you want a warm living room after a cold day. The next decision is where that room sits. A wood-burning fireplace in a North Durango cabin is a different trip from a gas fireplace in a Purgatory condo after skiing, and both are different from a valley house with a fireplace and a private hot tub.
Sort the grid by location first, bedrooms second. For slopeside inventory see Purgatory vacation homes. For mountain homes north of town that are not on the resort, open mountain getaways. For a soak after you put the fire out, cross-check hot tub rentals — twenty-eight of these fifty-five overlap.
See Durango CabinsQuestions About Durango Rentals with a Fireplace
-
How many of your rentals have a fireplace?
Fifty-five of our Durango rentals come with fireplaces!
-
Are these all luxury cabins?
No. Only eleven are typed as cabins, and luxury is a separate amenity filter. This page is every rental marked Fireplace under Amenities — houses, condos, townhomes and cabins. For cabins specifically, use Durango cabins. For the luxury collection, use luxury vacation rentals.
-
Do the Purgatory rentals have fireplaces?
Yes — all ten Purgatory units we manage are in this fireplace set. Start on Purgatory vacation homes if you only want the ski hill, or filter this grid by location.
-
Which fireplace rentals allow dogs?
Thirty of fifty-five accept pets. Pets are $25 per night each, capped at $200 per dog, up to two dogs on most pet-friendly homes. Confirm on the listing.
-
Are the fireplaces wood-burning or gas?
It varies — and many listings do not specify in the amenity description. Some note gas, wood-burning, propane or whether wood is provided. Always read the Amenities tab and house rules on the individual listing before you book.
-
What size are the fireplace rentals?
Sleep two to twenty, from one-bedroom casitas and studios up to six-bedroom houses. Check sleeps and floorplan photos on the listing rather than assuming bedroom count equals headcount.
-
Do these homes also have hot tubs?
Twenty-eight of the fifty-five do. For every hot tub rental we manage, use Durango rentals with hot tubs.
-
What deposit do you require to book?
A 50% deposit if your arrival date is more than 60 days away. If you are booking inside 60 days, payment in full is due at the time of reservation.
-
Where do I check in?
You go directly to the rental and access it with a door code or lockbox. Your guest information sheet — address and access codes — is emailed before arrival once the balance is paid and the rental agreement is signed.
-
Is a fireplace the same as a fire pit?
No. This page filters on the Streamline Fireplace amenity (indoor). Some homes also list an outdoor fire pit in the description — that is a bonus on the listing, not what this filter selects.

Own a Durango Rental with a Fireplace?
Fireplace homes book differently in ski season and on cold shoulder-season weekends than otherwise identical floorplans without one.
