Where Our Durango Vacation Homes Are
Our houses are scattered across the whole county rather than clustered at one resort, so picking the area matters more here than it does with a condo. Two sit right in town — 5th Avenue Cottage is about a mile from downtown, and if being able to walk to dinner is the priority, start with our downtown Durango vacation rentals. Thirteen more are in the Durango valley within a few miles of Main Avenue, and two are up at Dalton Ranch on the golf course roughly eight miles north. How big are your Durango vacation homes?
They run from one bedroom to six, sleeping anywhere from two to twenty. The middle of the range is where most of the inventory sits — ten three-bedroom houses and eight four-bedrooms. The three largest are Engineer House 487 at Purgatory sleeping twenty, Elk Meadows Family Retreat sleeping eighteen and Curry Barn sleeping fourteen. Do I get the entire house to myself?
Yes. Every home here is booked as a whole property — the kitchen, the laundry, the yard and the parking are yours for the stay. There is no shared entry and no other guests in the building. That is the main practical difference between these and our Durango condos, where the pool, hot tub and sauna are shared with the complex.

Can I bring my dog?
Usually, yes. Seventeen of our twenty-seven homes are pet friendly, most of them accepting up to two dogs, and the largest pet friendly house sleeps twelve. Look at the four- and six-bedroom houses with more than one living area — Durango Valley Retreat and Hacienda House both sleep twelve, and Paradise On Coon Creek sleeps ten. How far are the homes from downtown Durango?
It varies more than you might expect, because these are spread across the county rather than grouped at one resort. 5th Avenue Cottage is about a mile out. Most of the Durango valley homes are within a few miles of Main Avenue. Dalton Ranch is roughly eight miles north, Hermosa a little further, and the two Purgatory homes are about twenty-five miles up US-550 at the ski area. The Sanctuary in Dolores is the outlier at around thirty-five miles west, chosen for Mesa Verde rather than for Durango.

Do any of the homes have a garage?
Several do, which matters more in winter than people expect and is something almost none of our condos offer. You can filter for it directly on our Durango rentals with a garage page. If you just need somewhere off the street to park, most of the houses have a driveway.

Are the hot tubs private?

How and where do I check in?
For our homes you go straight to the property and use a door code or a lockbox — there is no front desk to stop at. About 30 days before your stay we email a guest information sheet with the property address and access codes, once your balance is paid in full and your rental agreement is signed. Standard check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM.

What deposit is required to book?
For bookings made more than 60 days out, a 50% deposit of the total rental cost is required. For reservations inside 60 days, full payment is due at the time of booking.

Do you rent homes for longer than a few weeks?
Yes, separately from these nightly rentals. If you need somewhere for a month or more — a relocation, a remote-work stretch, a renovation — see our monthly rentals in Durango, CO. These are not long-term unfurnished housing and we do not handle year-round leases.
Not Sure a House Is the Right Fit?
A whole home is the most space and the most freedom, but it is not always the right call. If you are here to ski and want to walk to the lift, a condo at Purgatory does that better.
