Fishing near Durango runs from spring runoff all the way through ice fishing in the winter, and the fly water on the Animas and the Florida is some of the best in southwest Colorado. If you would rather stay dry, the wildlife watching around the lakes is worth the early alarm.

In winter we strongly recommend all-wheel drive with chains in the trunk, or four-wheel drive. Roads are plowed regularly and driveways are cleared after three to four inches of snow. A few homes require four-wheel drive, and we let you know in advance if yours is one of them.
