Our two-bedroom Durango rentals lean heavily to condos, and a large share of them sit up US-550 — ski-in, ski-out at Purgatory, or a little farther north at Cascade Village and Silverpick. Most have at least two bathrooms, one for each bedroom, which is why two couples on a ski trip book this size instead of a three-bedroom house. Nightly rates start at $150, and the floorplans run from an 800-square-foot condo at the base of the lifts that sleeps eight to a 2,600-square-foot cabin in the woods. What Guests Say About Our Two-Bedroom Condos and Cabins
What a Two-Bedroom Gets You in Durango
-
A Bathroom Per Bedroom Most of our two-bedrooms have at least two bathrooms, so two couples travelling together are not sharing one sink. -
Ski-In, Ski-Out at Purgatory Angel Haus #117, Last Run and Mountain Gem all sit at Purgatory, so you walk to the chairlift instead of driving to it. -
Rates Start at $150 Most have a published nightly rate, and those run from $150 up to $350. -
Resort Amenities Without the Resort Price Most of the condos include a shared pool and hot tub, several add a fitness room and a few have a sauna. -
Every Cabin Takes Two Dogs All Decked Out, Double J Cabin and Peaceful Pines each accept two dogs and each has a private yard to let them out into. -
A Fire to Come Home To Most have a fireplace, including wood-burning ones at Cascade Hideaway, Happy Pick, Last Run and Mountain Gem. -
Laundry in the Unit Most have a washer and dryer in the unit, which matters more on a seven-day ski week than it does on a summer weekend. -
Let Yourself In Most are set up for self check-in with a door code or lockbox, so a late arrival up US-550 is not a problem.
Where the Two-Bedrooms Are
A large share of them sit north of town along US-550, and that is the single biggest thing separating this bedroom count from the rest of the portfolio. Purgatory is 25 miles and about 30 minutes from Durango, and several of these are at the resort itself: Last Run and Mountain Gem are ski-in, ski-out condos in the main plaza, and Angel Haus #117 is in the base village within walking distance of the nearest lift. More sit at Cascade Village, less than two miles north of the resort — Cascade Dream and Cascade Hideaway, each 1,110 square feet. At Silverpick, Rocky Mountain Hideaway is 1.5 miles from the resort beside Black Diamond Lodge, and Happy Pick is a remodelled condo with a loft and a community hot tub steps from the door.
Others are standalone properties rather than units in a resort complex. All Decked Out is a 2,600-square-foot cabin a two-minute drive from Purgatory with a private hot tub, a fire pit and a garage. Peaceful Pines is an 825-square-foot cabin nearer Durango, and Double J Cabin is eight minutes from the ski area with a private deck over a pond. Barn House at Elk Meadows sits on 20 acres above the Florida Valley, 15 minutes from downtown and minutes from Vallecito and Lemon Reservoir. Hillside Haven is out at Forest Lakes in Bayfield, designed by yurt architects on a one-acre lot with a central dome skylight and a wood stove. Some are set up as monthly rentals rather than nightly stays.
Pick the corridor before you pick the floorplan. A condo at Purgatory puts you on the hill in the morning and 25 miles from a restaurant on Main Avenue at night; a cabin closer to town reverses that trade. Most list mountain views either way.

A Ski Week From a Two-Bedroom Base
Purgatory runs 1,635 acres over 107 trails on 11 lifts, with a base at 8,793 feet, a summit at 10,822 and an average of about 260 inches of snow. It is also the rare resort where kids ski free: Power Kids gives 12-and-under unlimited skiing with no purchase required and no blackout dates, which is worth more to a family of four in a two-bedroom than any lift-ticket discount. There are no half-day tickets, so plan on a full day — and if you are still working out where to point the group, our guide to the beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes and our notes on lift tickets both help.
The Cascade Village condos come with the village’s own free amenities: an indoor heated pool, a sauna, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a pool table, an outdoor tennis court, a ski rental shop and a ski shuttle to Purgatory. That shuttle is the reason a Cascade unit works without a second car. In summer the same corridor turns over to the bike park, and Purgatory’s activities run to early October. For the days you come down the hill, winter in Durango covers what else is open, and the best month for skiing here is worth reading before you set your dates.
See Winter Things to Do in Durango800 to 2,600 Square Feet, All With Two Bedrooms
Square footage and headcount do not track together in this bucket, which trips people up. Angel Haus #117 is the smallest unit on the page at 800 square feet and sleeps the most people at eight. All Decked Out is more than three times the floor space at 2,600 square feet and sleeps six. If what you want is room to spread out rather than beds to fill, read the square footage, not the sleeps number.
The compact end is the ski-condo end. Last Run is 976 square feet slopeside, and Peaceful Pines is 825 in a cabin that sleeps six on one and a half baths. The middle is where most of the page sits: Happy Pick at 1,100 plus a loft, Cascade Dream and Cascade Hideaway at 1,110, Rocky Mountain Hideaway at 1,125 across the second and third floors, and Double J Cabin and Mountain Gem at 1,200 each. Mountain Gem is a single-level layout, which is the one to look at if stairs are a problem.
Above that, Hillside Haven is 1,484 square feet on an acre in Bayfield, and Barn House at Elk Meadows is a renovated barn on 20 private acres with two and a half baths. If two bedrooms turns out to be one short, the three-bedroom rentals are our widest selection at any one bedroom count, and the Durango Mountain Resort condos cover the same corridor at other bedroom counts.
Questions About Two-Bedroom Rentals in Durango
-
Does a two-bedroom rental come with two bathrooms?
Usually, yes. Most of our two-bedrooms have at least two bathrooms, one for each bedroom, which is the reason two couples travelling together book this size rather than a three-bedroom house. A few are one-and-a-half-bath layouts — Peaceful Pines is one — and Barn House at Elk Meadows has two and a half. The bathroom count is listed on every property page, so check it before you book if a bathroom per bedroom is what you are after.
-
How many people does a two-bedroom sleep?
Between two and eight, depending on the property. Many sleep six or more, and Angel Haus #117 at Purgatory sleeps eight — the highest headcount of any two-bedroom we manage.
-
Which two-bedrooms are ski-in, ski-out?
Last Run and Mountain Gem are both in the main plaza at Purgatory, and Angel Haus #117 is in the base village within walking distance of the nearest chairlift. Rocky Mountain Hideaway at Silverpick is the next closest at 1.5 miles from the resort.
-
Which two-bedrooms allow dogs?
Several of our two-bedrooms accept pets. All Decked Out, Double J Cabin, Happy Pick and Peaceful Pines each take two dogs, and every one of our two-bedroom cabins is on that list with a private yard to let them out into. Pets are $25 per night each, capped at $200 per dog, up to two dogs, added to your reservation after you book.
-
Do the two-bedrooms have air conditioning?
Only Barn House at Elk Meadows lists air conditioning. Durango sits at 6,512 feet, where summer days often reach the 80s and nights cool off, and the condos up US-550 are higher still — Purgatory's base village is at 8,793 feet. Most of the other properties are stocked with ceiling fans or portable fans instead, and you can check the Amenities tab on any listing for the details.
-
Do I need snow tires to drive up to the Purgatory and Cascade condos?
You need compliant tires. Colorado's Must Carry law runs 1 September to 31 May regardless of the weather and covers all of US-550, which is the road to every one of our properties north of town. Passenger vehicles need at least 3/16-inch tread on all-weather or M+S-rated tires, and the fine is $50 plus a surcharge. During storms CDOT can activate the Traction Law and then the Chain Law, so check conditions before you drive up.
-
Which two-bedrooms have a hot tub?
All Decked Out has a private hot tub of its own. Several of the resort condos have access to a shared or community tub instead, as part of the building or village amenities.
-
What comes with a condo at Cascade Village?
The village includes an indoor heated pool, a sauna, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a pool table, an outdoor tennis court, a ski rental shop and a ski shuttle to Purgatory, all free to guests. Cascade Village is less than two miles north of Purgatory Resort, 26 miles north of Durango and 25 miles south of Silverton.
-
Can I rent a two-bedroom by the month?
Some of our two-bedrooms are set up as monthly rather than nightly rentals, and they do not show a nightly rate. Our monthly rentals page lists everything available for a long-term stay across all bedroom counts.
-
What deposit do you require to book?
A 50% deposit is required if your arrival date is more than 60 days away. If your reservation is inside 60 days, payment in full is due at the time of booking.

Own a Two-Bedroom Condo at Purgatory or Cascade?
This page skews heavily to condos, and a two-bedroom condo up US-550 books on a different calendar than a house in town — ski weeks, shoulder-season gaps and the summer bike-park run. If you own one at Purgatory, Cascade or Silverpick, our Purgatory condo management team can tell you what your unit should be doing, and our wider Durango property management service covers the rest of the valley.
