Durango’s stunning red cliffs serve as the idyllic backdrop to this professionally-designed home. Step inside to an open floor plan and a spacious dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows where you'll want to gather for a good meal, board games, and views of the abundant wildlife. Or maybe you’ll opt to relax in one of the window seats in the living room. With over 300 days of sunshine annually in Durango, it’s always a good time to grab a book and settle in.
The gourmet kitchen is sure to captivate your inner-chef with its soapstone countertops and modern finishes, all stocked to a budding chef’s delight. The main floor also offers a private bedroom with a queen bed and an adjacent, full bathroom. The two additional private bedrooms are located on the second floor. One room, with a queen bed and the second with a bunk bed.
Need another place to rest your head after a long day playing in the mountains? Feel free to use the cabinet bed in the loft that easily converts into a queen bed. You’ll feel like you're camping indoors as you gaze up through the skylight to the starry Colorado skies above. The loft also serves as a great bonus area for kids or other guests to enjoy their own space. Lastly, a thoughtfully-designed downstairs laundry room with a cozy desk area offers a quiet spot for conference calls–or to settle in and write the next great American novel.

A friendly reminder before you book your stay is to remember that we are trusted to manage independent and family-owned homes. We simply ask that you treat these homes and properties with the same respect that you would expect one to treat yours. Due to a recent uptick in unauthorized guests, pets and gatherings, we are implementing a strict "one strike" policy for any guests that are found having any unauthorized gatherings, pets or guests with them in the home. Failure to disclose any of the stated above will result in immediate termination of stay with no refund being issued for unused nights.
Please note that most properties are outfitted with outdoor security cameras.
Cancellation Policy:
If your arrival date is within thirty (30) days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between twenty-nine (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. Fourteen (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Cancellations made between thirty-one (31) days in advance of your arrival and fifty-nine (59) days will receive a 50% refund.
Trip insurance is available for purchase and is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
We absolutely loved our stay here. The home was beautiful, comfortable, and had a welcoming feel that made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The hot tub was a highlight, especially after a day of exploring, and having on-site laundry was incredibly convenient.
Parking was easy, the views were stunning, and the location was perfect—close enough to Durango for quick trips into town while still feeling peaceful and scenic. It's also conveniently located near the hot springs, which is a must-do if you're visiting the area.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended!

We recently stayed here with my older parents and young children, and it was perfect for all ages! The kids especially loved the lofted space and hot tub, while my parents enjoyed the large dining table, which was great for family games and meals together. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, making it easy to prepare family meals. The location was ideal—just outside of town for a peaceful atmosphere, but still easily accessible to downtown. We also appreciated how close it was to great hiking trails and beautiful spots for leaf peeping. Overall, a wonderful stay for a multi-generational family getaway!

The cabin was the best of both worlds. It was close to everything that you want to do in Durango, Silverton, etc…, but far enough away to enjoy a peaceful moment on the porch. The view wants were great and always responded to our questions. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for quiet place to stay.

e had a great time during our stay at Camp MIddle Bear. It was in a great location, allowing quick trips into Durango and all the attractions, but also convenient to day trips to Silverton and Ouray. We also enjoyed the wildlife around the home. On our last day there we spent the afternoon watching three large deer hang out in the yard. We would definitely recommend Camp Middle Bear

My family loved the property. The sunsets, the mountains and the wildlife( deer, rabbits) just added to the beauty. Clear instruction book. Great common areas . The home appliances were great. There really is a 1000 great things to say , the only negatives we encountered in our 5 night stay was pillows weren't the best and the skylights are really cool at night but it does get bright early in the morning upstairs in the loft and the upstair bedrooms. The value was absolutely worth it, if we come back to Durango we will be hoping to get this amazing place again.

Would absolutely rebook at Camp Middle Bear! The owners have truly thought of everything and no expense has been spared to make this a top notch little cabin. Beautiful surroundings (a bit closer to the road than the pictures imply, but totally not an issue- very quiet), perfectly equipped home, ideal distance from the mountain/Durango- I could go on and on. Wouldn't hesitate to return and we highly, highly recommend- you won't be disappointed! Thank you Camp Middle Bear for a great home away from home and wonderful memories!

We came up to Durango for a girls trip and this vacation rental was amazing! It was cute and cozy and we kept saying the whole time “Does this place NOT have anything!?” because it had everything we needed AND MORE. We used the Alexa to play music, the washer and dryer worked great and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need. One of my friends forgot their shampoo and conditioner, and we found some conveniently located under the sink. He even has a cozy little office neck with a computer if you need to do some work. The beds were comfortable, the location was right next to the Durango hot Spring resort, which we went to and loved! And it's only 15 minutes from downtown Durango with lots of shopping and shit and restaurant options. The best surprise was when we first got to the house, a deer greeted us in the yard which made the experience even more magical. The price is a little high, but I do believe it was worth it for a clean, semi-private, beautiful vacation rental.

Girls weekend. We chose this rental for it's location and amenities. It is in a beautiful and quiet setting, only minutes from a gourmet market. 20 minutes from downtown Durango. Our hosts were very kind and responsive. The property very clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the fresh flowers! All four of us said we would stay again in the future.

We had a great week here catching the end of ski season at Purgatory with fresh powder, enjoying the Durango Hot Springs just down the road, and eating some great meals whether homecooked, downtown Durango, and at James Ranch nearby. The backyard hot tub at the end of a day on the slopes is a particular highlight. Definitely would be a great place in the spring or summer as well, for hikes and other fair weather adventures. Well designed space that allowed for some remote work amidst the fun, too. Highly recommend!

My family and I had a great stay at Camp Middle Bear! The cabin was perfect for our needs and was a great weekend getaway for our extended family. The property was clean, the beds were super comfortable, and we loved the sunroom space and the bay windows. Our kids woke up every morning to go sit in the bay windows and watch deer roam about outside, that was a major trip highlight for them! Would absolutely stay again, it was great.

We stayed at Camp Middle Bear for a family ski vacation. We are a family of six with two extra kids tagging along. We LOVED the location of this property. We have stayed in Durango previously for a ski trip and stayed in town. We much preferred this mid point location between town and Purgatory. The house is newly remodeled and well stocked with games and space for gathering. We were a little chilly, but only because we didn’t utilize the space heaters around until the last day. We thought they were fans because they looked so nice. We cooked at the house, we ordered in, the kids played in the yard, wildlife went by our window, my husband and I both worked in the adorable work space at times, and overall we really liked our stay. We would love to come back to this property in the summer.

We were two couples taking a midweek winter ski trip to Durango and Purgatory and enjoyed such a lovely stay at Camp Middle Bear. Two of the guys in our group are carpenters and they kept marvelling over the finish out and design details of the renovated cabin. Cozy, but modern and so comfy. We loved the decor---everywhere you looked there was some special design element or fun piece art that really elevated the sense that you were immersed in the Western woods. Communications with the owner and vacation rental folks was great. All four of us own vacation rentals and we left making notes of what to improve on our respective properties and house manuals. We enjoyed the hot tub immensely---with its backdrop of the snow striped Hermosa mountains it was sublime. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

This cozy cabin is absolutely incredible! As a professional interior designer, I'm somewhat picky about where I want to stay during a vacation… and this home did not disappoint! From the gorgeous green soapstone countertops, high end appliances, beautiful finishes and designer furniture, I appreciated every detail! The home, which is located up a semi-private paved road, is in a great location. The stunning views are breathtaking, and we enjoyed being close to the Purgatory ski resort. After a long day of skiing, it was a nice perk to soak your muscles in the hot tub. There is a gourmet market within 5 minutes from the home and downtown Durango shopping is only a short 15 minute drive. Our family enjoyed our stay so much, I actually hesitate leaving such a glowing review in hopes our “secret spot” doesn't get discovered. 😉 I would buy this home if I could.

Our stay at Camp Middle Bear was exactly what our family needed. The second we opened that front door, we knew we were in for a treat. The place is immaculately maintained and professionally decorated. The kitchen has everything you need to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for a large family. The beds are comfortable and the bedrooms are cozy. The great room in the back of the property was where our family spent most of the time. It has a gorgeous table large enough to fit 10 and you can see the beautiful mountains surrounding the house from every angle. Truly a magical stay! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quiet time away from the crazy city life. We will absolutely book again.

What an amazing vacation we had in Durango, Colorado! From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we knew our stay was going to be wonderful. This cabin has personality, is decorated lovely, and truly makes your mountain stay feel complete. We were a family of 7 staying at this cabin which included two grandparents. The view of the mountains in the morning are wonderful and cook outs, s'mores, and hot tub made for a perfect end to the night. This cabin in our opinion is in a perfect location. A short drive to Durango and Purgatory. The host was very accommodating and helpful with local events and activities and was always available with any questions. My husband needed a quiet place to do teleconferences and there was a perfect private setup for him to be able to do a few minutes of work while on vacation. We had an amazing time and dream of coming back to visit this same cabin and Durango.

Camp Middle Bear was the perfect spot for our family trip to Durango, and its obvious that the property owners have invested a lot of time and energy into making sure that their guests are comfortable. Not only is the cabin beautifully decorated, but its also stocked with everything you might need for a family getaway, including plenty of board games and a hot tub with an incredible view- perfect for soaking after a long day on the trail! You also can't beat the location. We were twenty minutes from Purgatory and twenty from downtown, which allowed us to enjoy the best of both worlds. We had privacy but were also a short drive from groceries, restaurants and some great breweries. We will definitely be back!
