This beautiful home is 6000 square feet, has 6 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a laundry room, gourmet kitchen, and a full downstairs basement/game room with Ping Pong table. Some additional features of this vacation paradise are: Riverfront access inches away from the back porch, lovely outdoor riverfront seating area, Jacuzzi on the back deck, Basketball Court, manicured grass on back lawn, floor to ceiling windows in the living area, and a spacious floor plan. House Rule: The home accommodates a maximum of 10 guests total, with no more than 8 adults permitted.
The master suite features a King size bed and raised private deck. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms have a King and a Queen Bed. The 4th bedroom has a Bunk Bed and 1 Twin Bed. The 5th bedroom has 1 Twin Bed.

Guests will be sent a vacation rental agreement by Durango Colorado Vacations (the property manager) to e-sign at the time of booking.

A friendly reminder before you book your stay is to remember that we are trusted to manage independent and family-owned homes. We simply ask that you treat these homes and properties with the same respect that you would expect one to treat yours. Due to a recent uptick in unauthorized guests, pets and gatherings, we are implementing a strict "one strike" policy for any guests that are found having any unauthorized gatherings, pets or guests with them in the home. Failure to disclose any of the stated above will result in immediate termination of stay with no refund being issued for unused nights.
Please note that most properties are outfitted with outdoor security cameras.
Cancellation Policy:
If your arrival date is within thirty (30) days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that are made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival will receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Between twenty-nine (29) days and fifteen (15) days before arrival, guest will be refunded 50% of the reservation amount. Fourteen (14) days or less to arrival, no refunds given.
For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date to receive a 100% refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. Cancellations made between thirty-one (31) days in advance of your arrival and fifty-nine (59) days will receive a 50% refund.
Trip insurance is available for purchase and is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
Our family had an amazing time in Colorado staying at Bends Whitewater Ranch. The home was just lovely and the setting even better. We loved being by the Animas River. One of our grandchildren was fishing in the front river any time we were not busy! We loved the spacious living room/kitchen area and found everything we needed to enjoy family meals. The sleeping accommodations were perfect for our family members to all have good places to rest. We also appreciated the home being very clean when we arrived to check in.
We were there during a bit of a heat wave so the afternoons and evenings inside got a little warm but we managed by going by the river and keeping the fans in use!

This is a very nice property with one shortcoming if you rent it for the summer time. There is no AC which makes the interior heat up during the day to 80+ degrees. The house has a lot of fans but it doesn't cool the house during the day. Other than that it's a very nice house.

Absolutely perfect stay! The house is right on the Animas River and was the best Airbnb I've visited. The location is stunning, with gorgeous river views and easy access to nature. The house itself was immaculate and well appointed with all the amenities we could possibly need. The host was incredibly welcoming and responsive. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a getaway. We've been staying in vacation rentals for several years and I've have to say this was our family's favorite. The location on the river and the full court basketball court gave the entire family plenty to do without leaving the property. We loved it. We'd definitely rent it again if we come back to Durango.

The house is beautiful and the surroundings are breathtaking. I went with a group of friends, everything was perfect, the host was always very kind and helpful. The location was very convenient for us because we went skiing to purgatory (15min away) and we also went to restaurants downtown that were also 15 min away approximately. I really hope to go back soon. :)

The house was spacious, well laid out and met our needs for accommodating grandparents, adults and 2 teen boys. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, flatwear, pots and pans as well as an outdoor gas grill. Everyone enjoyed the basketball court, we all enjoyed sitting by the Animus River during the day and after dinner. Because of its rural location, Wi-Fi was slow and sporadic which seemed to be related to internet traffic because it was great early in the morning. The hot tub was enjoyed by the adults.

This Airbnb was awesome! Great communication and easy check in and check out. The house is beautiful and so is the yard. The privacy of this location made it even better. It was nice having my coffee in the mornings sitting out by the river. The kids enjoyed the basketball court, large yard, and ping pong table. Having a washer/dryer was convenient. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Will definitely be back!

We had the best time on this property. The kids loved the basement area and the yard was like heaven for running and playing. The adults had plenty of space and the kitchen was perfect for the big meals we prepared each night. White Water Ranch was a perfect spot for our 3 families to relax for the week. The house was set up really well for multiple parties - plenty of rooms and bathrooms. The house is beautiful - the pictures don’t do it justice! We spent most of the time at home on the back deck or running around the huge back lawn with the kids. There was a variety of sporting equipment left for us to play with which was great. The river in the back yard was very low so we didn’t get to swim or fish there, but it was still wonderful to sit in the chairs they provided down by the river around the fire pit. Everything was sparkling clean and the huge washer/dryer were key for a large group for a week long stay. The house is about 25 minutes outside of town but it was nice to be secluded in a quiet spot. We will be back!

Beautiful home on a large lot with a river running through the back and front of the property. We had several kids and grandparents on this trip and all were accommodated wonderfully. Deer were in the yard every day and many different species of birds making it a lot of fun for the kids. Location was near great hikes and small ponds for fishing. Kitchen well stocked and ready for home cooked meals. Jacuzzi was clean and automatic. There is a gas grill in the back. Lots of board games and beautiful views. We will be back.

Missing this Home and the River

Our family loved gathering in this beautiful home for two weeks! We sure are missing the sounds of the Animas River, especially at night. Full moon over the eastern Hermosa mountains and cliffs was spectacular as we sat around the fire pit next to the river. The home is very spacious and everyone had plenty of private space. My husband and I are also missing the 'killer' master bathroom suite! The kitchen is very well-stocked (only wish the vent hood insert was operational, as the first couple of days were a little warm in southern Colorado). But we survived and did some great baking on the wonderful outside grill. The beds and linens were wonderful; we slept like rocks! Loved the outdoor space -- massive beautiful lawn for all sorts of games. We brought yard darts and croquet, but there were several outdoor games provided in the spacious garage. The enormous 'cool' basement is awesome and was a haven on the first warm day or two. The location is very convenient to Durango and Purgatory activities...golf, shopping, hiking, and our personal favorite: jeep rides in the beautiful San Juan Mountains! A very big THANKS to Jen from Durango Colorado Vacations...she was extraordinarily quick with responding to our questions and kindly provided a couple of items that we requested. We will definitely keep this home at the top of the list for another trip to the Rockies.

Absolutely loved our stay. We would love to return to this property. I was just a little worried about the rushing water in the ditch in front of the house. I had small grandchildren and we had to be so very careful to keep the front door locked.

Spectacular Ranch!

I rented this house for my siblings, kids and grandkids for our family reunion and celebration of life ceremony for my father's passing. And what was really great is that after being out in the mountains...to the top of Kennebec Pass etc., and hanging out at the park in town, that what we came home to Whitewater Ranch was just a as spectacular!!! A gorgeous huge green lawn running along the Animas River, where the kids and grownups alike ran and played ball and enjoyed the natural beauty of being right by the river.
We were 13, 8 adults, 3 kids, a 4 year old and a toddler. There was space for everyone to be, play and hangout. The carpeted 'basement' area was home to 4 running, yelling, playing, kids...kicking balloons, playing ping pong and at night putting on a dance performance with flashlight strobes. The bedrooms were like having two houses and there was room for everyone to hang out and help make the meals in the kitchen/living area. We played basketball for hours, there was the hot tub under that unbelievable night sky; and the beautiful path leading down to the fire pit by the river where we made fire by rubbing sticks together!! The time at the fire pit with the river running by was the best! The kids grew up in Durango and now live in CA so it was it was especially fun for all of us to visit old friends and places and to have a few friends stop by. Everyone was able to relax and have a real reunion. We all loved it and would come back! the folks at Durango Vacations were easy to work with and always available if we had a question.

The Animas River flows in the front yard and the backyard of this incredibly located home! Upon walking in this house we knew immediately that we would be comfortable here and we would enjoy ourselves. And we did! The owners have taken great care in providing a well-stocked kitchen, beautiful stainless steel appliances, several dining areas, a large BBQ in the back, and surround sound, too! After assessing the kitchen and living area we were lured out the back door to follow the path to the river where there is a fire pit encircled with Adirondack chairs. During our stay, we enjoyed this stunning river vignette nightly, while either smoking cigars (from a great smoke shop in town), cooking s'more, or sipping wine. We played several games of “horse “on the full basketball court, we savored picnics on the grass under some of the many shade trees, we “Jacuzzied” as we gazed at the constellation, and barbequed grass fed meat and accompanied with organic garden greens, and yummy cheeses from the nearby James Ranch….
The proprietors have furnished this spacious house with all of the creature comforts including a large and cozy master bedroom with a balcony and many windows….that we left open at night to be lulled to sleep by the river.
It was just the 2 of us for a romantic get a way, we were sad to leave, and will forever cherish the memories we created here. We promised ourselves we would return soon to enjoy a bicycle ride on one of the many bikes, use the fishing poles to cast a line, and explore more of the fun of Downtown Durango! Our next visit, we will bring our family and friends to revel in this retreat! We highly recommend this for anyone who appreciates the great outdoors with the addition of the many comforts of home!
