How to Spend Your Durango New Year’s Eve Vacation
Purgatory Resort offers six (yes, six!) different ways to have fun on December 31. The first is an upscale buffet dinner at Hoody’s Basecamp Lodge. This dinner will include a carving station, desserts, and build-your-own hot chocolate bar. A later dinner will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., and offers a sophisticated five-course dinner with pine pairings.
There’s also a kid-friendly party at The Den Childcare Center. Parents are welcome to bring their children from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. The expert staff at the childcare center will provide tons of fun while Mom and Dad enjoy themselves at the adult functions.
After dinner, enjoy the fireworks and torchlight parade at the ski beach. Then head over the terrain park to watch the best talent in the area show of their snowboarding skills. Finally, you won’t want to miss the New Year’s Eve party, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Enjoy live music and fun times at this highly-anticipated event!
New Year’s Day Brunch
After your fun night at Purgatory Resort, be sure to head to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad for their annual New Year’s Day Brunch. You’re sure to start your year off right with a delicious meal accompanied by the beautiful views out of the windows of a steam-powered train. There are two different tickets to purchase. The first is the premium-class passengers. These tickets include a catered hot brunch which is enjoyed with the sounds of the train’s strolling musician. You’ll enjoy complimentary non-alcoholic drinks during the ride as well as a glass of champagne or sparkling cider to toast the new year.
The standard-class guests will have access to the concession car, where they may purchase snacks, hot or cold lunch items, beverages, cocktails, and souvenirs.
